Quick Summary

  • Local-only mode is device-only.
  • In local-only mode, your note stays on your device and is not synced to cloud services.
  • Sync mode is optional and only enabled when you sign in.
  • In sync mode, your note and account data are processed to provide cloud sync.
  • Support payments are optional and do not unlock core features.

Data We Process

1) Local app data (device storage)

Scratch stores the following data on your device to make the app work:

  • Your note content
  • App settings (theme/font preferences)
  • Sync state flags (for example whether sync mode is enabled)

This local data is used to preserve your app state and note content between app launches.

2) Account and sync data (only in sync mode)

When you choose to sign in and enable sync mode, Scratch processes:

  • Authentication data (for example account identifier and session tokens)
  • Synced note content
  • Sync metadata needed to keep your note up to date across devices

Sync services are provided through cloud infrastructure providers.

3) Optional support payments

Scratch may offer optional support payments:

  • Web: external support link
  • Mobile: native in-app purchase APIs where available

Payment processing is handled by the payment provider or platform store. Scratch does not collect or store full payment card numbers.

4) Account deletion requests

If you request account deletion from within the app while signed in, Scratch sends an authenticated deletion request to our account services.

This deletes your account and associated synced data from cloud services.

How We Use Data

We use data to:

  • Provide core note editing and storage
  • Provide optional account login and cloud sync
  • Apply your preferences
  • Process optional support actions
  • Handle account deletion requests
  • Maintain app reliability and security

Data Sharing

We share data only with service providers required to run Scratch features:

  • Cloud infrastructure providers (for authentication, data storage, sync, and account services)
  • Platform payment providers and app stores (for optional support purchases)
  • External support providers (if you choose to open optional support links)

We do not sell your personal data.

Retention

  • Local device data remains on your device until you remove it (for example by uninstalling the app or clearing app data).
  • Synced cloud data is retained while your account is active, unless you delete it.
  • If you request account deletion, synced account data is deleted according to backend deletion behavior and legal obligations.

Your Choices and Rights

You can:

  • Use Scratch in local-only mode without enabling sync
  • Enable or disable sync mode by signing in or signing out
  • Request account deletion from in-app settings (when signed in)
  • Contact support@scratchnoteapp.com for privacy questions

Depending on your location, you may have additional legal rights regarding access, correction, deletion, or objection.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.

Children

Scratch is not directed to children under the age where parental consent is required by law. If you believe a child provided personal data without authorization, contact support@scratchnoteapp.com.

International Processing

If you use sync features, your data may be processed in regions where our service providers operate.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and publish the revised policy.
